As commodity markets change, companies within the industry continuously innovate for the benefit of the industry. Bringing innovation into the spotlight is the leading events company in the space, Commodities People; we have introduced for the first time the independent Commodity Trading Awards. With over 400 entries from across the globe, the judges chose the very best, shortlisting 100 companies across 10 categories.
On the 25th of May, we also presented the ‘Rising Star Award’ which recognises up and coming talent within the commodity trading community and identifies tomorrow’s industry leaders. The chosen individual joins the prestigious winners of this year’s awards which were announced in April, and include: RadarRadar, Contour, SGX and others. The winners were chosen by a fully independent panel, with the organisers having no access to the decision-making journey, ensuring a process based on merit.
Richard Watts, Founder and Managing Director of HR Maritime, said: “With such a vast and rapidly changing industry, the newly created awards enable broader awareness of what companies are doing and an opportunity to celebrate their achievements. The awards ceremony was thoroughly enjoyable, and the winning companies are deservedly proud. I am looking forward to judging next year’s awards and participating in the awards ceremony.”
Maryana Yarmolenko Stober, President of Wista Switzerland, said: “CTW Awards is a great initiative highlighting companies and projects in various important categories of today's business. I am particularly happy to see the launch of the Women in Commodities Award, aiming at recognizing women as leaders in the commodities industry.”
Ben Hilary, CEO and Founder of Commodities People, said: “Our events bring the commodity world together and the new awards are a significant point in our evolution. To see our first ever awards event receive such a great response from the wider commodities community is a fantastic endorsement and I congratulate and thank everyone that has participated. As a company committed to bringing added value to the market, we wanted to celebrate industry participants with deserved notable mentions in 10 different categories. This is why we made sure there was a wall between us, the organisers, and the very experienced judging panel. Thank you to all the entrants and our judges, and we are looking forward to next year’s awards!”
