PANEL:

  • Moderator: Howard Walper, CEO Americas, Commodities People
  • Kevin Lucke, President, Chevron Renewable Energy Group

PANEL DISCUSSION:

• The future of transportation is lower carbon, but what is the future of sourcing, petroleum, agriculture, electricity, energy storage
• The “right now” of transportation is important too though: reducing carbon intensity with renewable gasoline, biofuels
• Agriculture and Energy are faced with a challenging policy environment
         • The Biden Administration using controversial interpretations of CAFE rules to force electrification of US light- and medium-duty
         • Technology forcing rules threaten demand for gasoline, diesel, ethanol and other liquid fuels
•…even where liquid fuels make the most sense
• We need many solutions:  EV/ICE mix, renewable fuels (including biofuels), traditional oil products
• Consumer choice matters – using market forces to achieve policy goals leads to the freest, lowest cost results
